Values Remain the Same

The remarks made yesterday by Richard Edelman during the memorial service for Mike Deaver have stuck in my mind, and I wish to share them. Richard quoted something Mike had said to the leaders of Edelman PR less than two months before his passing. This is what Mike said:

“A few of us got into the world of communications when it was a world of print … then radio and TV and now the Internet, e-mails and blogs … and yet their values remain the same today –

• Know who you are
• Be open and transparent
• Be ready for change”

Mike radiated those principles thoughout his career and was an inspiring communicator and leader.
