I remember how shocked I was when petrol (gas to you) in the UK went over 1 GBP per gallon many years ago. Little did we think that we'd get to pay 1 GBP+ per litre and in so doing support both the vast profits of the oil industry and the tax-taking habits of our government. Ah, happy days! And we are now paying well over 1 GB pound per litre (not gallon, note, but litre) for this precious fluid in the UK.
