Bottom of the Barrel: Comcast
I write a lot about how Apple is such a leading corporate citizen … the absolute best. Now comes an article in the New York Times about a monopolistic company that is at the extreme opposite end of the scale … a company that has put itself at the absolute bottom of the rubbish can, Comcast. By the way, I feel a little apologetic to mention Apple and Comcast in the same paragraph but it’s only to illustrate the best against the worst in corporate America.
The article states that Comcast was ranked at the very bottom of the most recent American Customer Satisfaction Index, which tracks consumer opinions of more than 200 companies. It’s clear that Comcast is not taking any authentic or credible steps to improve its image, preferring instead to wallow in a self-inflicted lousy and arrogant brand reputation.
It’s overdue for Congress to act and breakup Comcast’s monopoly on delivering Internet, cable television and other services. It’s also long overdue for Verizon and other companies to get smart and move aggressively to invade Comcast’s territory.
