From the Frontline

frontline-club-logoThere was a time, several decades ago, when the concept of foreign correspondents’ clubs flourished. They were places for journalists from all over the world to gather, relax and share in friendship and adventures.

Then, it became more expensive for the clubs to operate, and membership was opened up to the PR crowd with their fat expense accounts and hopes of rubbing elbows with real reporters. In some global capitals, the real journalists either could no longer afford membership or were just put-off by the lack of privacy.

London’s Frontline Club, however, remains not only popular but the place for the media, members of government and business, and the public relations crowd to meet, exchange ideas and to dine.  Having visited Frontline many times with friends from the BBC, I have enjoyed the stimulating atmosphere, and have wondered why other such clubs have not copied this clever approach to enriching the mingling of the media with business and government.

Frontline’s blog approach is terrific … opened up to a group of featured writers. Check it out here.
