Next Gen of Social Media has Arrived

Rainn Wilson at SoulPancake.comFor some months, I have been curious about what the next generation of online social media will look like in practical terms. Like … when we get bored of Twitter and Facebook, what’s next on the horizon?

I began on what I thought was a logical path of querying visionaries, gurus and journalists of technology and social media (at least the journalists who still have a job). That was helpful but focused mostly on technology hardware rather than terrific new creative concepts and directions. The answer, to my surprise, has been in front of me for several months; I just didn’t recognize it.

Rainn Wilson told me about a site he was helping to create called SoulPancake.com yet the concept was so over-my-head that I didn’t understand or recognize it until this week, when SoulPancake.com debuted. Rainn calls it a place where creativity and spiritually meet, online.

Best thing is to check it out yourself if you’re interested. SP defies a definition at this time … categories like Metaphysical Milkshake, Chew on This, Splatter Your Spirit. I’ve spent a few hours on SP, never visiting the same place twice, and always finding some amazing ideas and sharing. Hope you take a look, and let me know what you think.
