With extensive credentials in the field of strategic and corporate communications, image and reputation management and media outreach, David works with clients to create and strengthen original online content, deepen engagement through online communities and develop new business models for the digital era.

David is a leader in online communications, starting with his launch in 1999 of BoomerCafé.com, one of the most popular online magazines for baby boomers with active lifestyles. He remains Publisher of BoomerCafé.

Since 2003 and the evolution of blog online technology, he has developed new and more influential communications purposes for the interactive and social media power of dynamic online technology, particularly in the area of brand journalism where his achievements are many. His personal opinion blog – DavidHenderson.com – focuses on trends in the fields of communications, online brand management and the media.

His most recent of four books is “Making News in the Digital Era,” published by Author Solutions (ISBN 978-1440153075). The book explores new marketing and brand management opportunities in the digital revolution and helps readers to navigate and make sense of the fluid and complex online media environment. David is also author of the popular “Making News: A Straight-Shooting Guide to Media Relations.”

David has provided professional counsel to clients around the world on reputation management, media relations, crisis communications, and competitive leadership challenges. He has represented BBC News, Radio Free Europe, the University of Rochester Simon Graduate School of Business, CSX Transportation, Retirement Living TV, Imperial Sugar Company, Learjet, ICB Kuwait, National 4-H Council, Louisiana Seafood Promotion and Marketing Board and numerous other leading corporations and organizations. The accomplishments, against all odds at the time, helped to make Guantanamo an international human rights issue.

In his role as vice president of global marketing and communications at Gulfstream Aerospace, he favorably repositioned the company’s brand image to become the hallmark of corporate aviation, resulting in unprecedented 400 percent sales growth.

David has appeared on nearly every major media organization in the world, including CBS Evening News, CBS Morning News, NBC Nightly News, The Today Show, BBC News, Mutual Radio, Westwood One Radio, National Public Radio, The Voice of America, The Washington Post, The Los Angeles Times, Associated Press, The Times of London … and on and on.

Among many distinctions, he was awarded an Emmy Award for outstanding investigative reporting on CBS Network News, and a Platinum Record for marketing and promotion of the historic Three Tenors Concert in Rome. David has also won countless awards in the communications field.

A native of the Washington, DC, area, David has lived and worked in New York, Tokyo, London and Hong Kong. He regularly lectures at communications and media relations workshops in the U.S. and Europe. David is on the Program Advisory Committee at Full Sail University in Orlando and has been an adjunct professor in communications at the University of Virginia for nine years.

As a journalist and writer, David has always admired the legendary American novelist Ernest Hemingway who said, “The most essential gift for a good writer is a built-in, shock-proof, shit detector. This is the writer’s radar and all great writers have had it.”
